It can be very annoying to get little to no response when you step hard on the gas pedal. Isn’t that what a car is supposed to do? Not only can this be frustrating, but it can be difficult to point to where the problem lies. When you experience this difficulty, we recommend taking your car to Asian Imports. One of our qualified technicians can properly diagnose the problem.
Reasons Your Car Won’t Accelerate
- Bad sensors - Our vehicles have lots of sensors that link to the engine, including the Mass Air Flow Sensor, Oxygen Sensor, and Throttle Position Sensor. These sensors relay information back and forth with the onboard computer. Typically, they monitor emissions, air, and/or fuel. Most of the time, when one of the sensors falters, it will trigger the check engine light.
- Clogged or filthy filters - Just like sensors, your car has many filters too. A dirty air filter can harm your air and fuel mixture, resulting in engine performance issues. Fortunately, air filters are not too difficult to replace.
- Faulty timing belt - This rubber belt helps the cylinders fire with proper timing. When this belt declines, it can cause misfires and laggy acceleration. It is recommended that you replace the belt before it breaks.
- Worn spark plugs - Spark delivery and timing are necessary to drive - period. When your spark plugs have gone bad, it can hold you back from accelerating.
- Clogged fuel injectors - This mechanical problem can be the culprit. These injectors are prone to clog from debris within the fuel. If you have dirty fuel injectors, we can fix it with a cleaning job.
